Back from Epcot!!!

I had a great time on my "mini vacation" in Orlando, it was nice to have one little vacation before a full month and a half of non-stop school. Especially right after my first statistics test. It was pretty chilly when we were there. The high was in the mid-60's with low in the high 40's. But other than that pretty nice. Shabbos was over cast and off and on rain, but since we didn't leave the house that we rented that was fine. On Sunday, until about 10 it was over cast then it really clearedup and was very nice, not too hot, not too cold. Well, cold enough to wear a sweater, but not bad. We went on almost all the rides and I got 3 little souveniers (two of which were dragons, no big surprise there). Anywho, here are some of the pictures.

You thought Pink Flamingoes on the front lawn were tacky? You ain't seen nothing!

What it looked like outside this morning

So this morning when I went out it was very foggy. I happen to like it when it's foggy out because it's so rare here, so I ran inside, grabbed my camera and took a picture.

Going to Disney!

I'm really excited, I'll be going up to Orlando/ Disney for the weekend! My mother, brother and his friend are already there, and I'll be driving up tomorrow with my step-father. It'll be good, especially since it will be my last "vacation" till March. And it will be right after my first statistics test, which is REALLY good, because that's when I will need a vacation. We'll be going to Epcot, it'll be my first time there in about 11 years, the last time I went, I went with my father and brother, and we were younger and din't want to go on anything. My father swore he wouldn't take us there till I was fifteen. Even after I turned fifteen he still didn't. Actually, there have been a couple of other places he swore never to take us to again. Boomer's for one, and Parrot Jungle (now Jungle Island) was the other.

And now on a completely un-related topic, my kitten has decided she likes to hang out on top of Baby's new cage. The funny thing is, Baby doesn't seem to care at all and when I take Mittens off the cage, Baby scolds me. Here's a couple of pictures:

A Joke

For people over 40 . . . (though not necessarily)

A computer was something on TV
From a science-fiction show of note
A window was something you hated to clean
And ram was the cousin of a goat

Meg was the name of my girlfriend
And gig was a job for the nights
Now they all mean different things
And that really mega bytes.

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account
And if you had a 3 inch Floppy
You hoped nobody found out.

Compress was something you did to the garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for a while.

Log on was adding wood to the fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu.

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens they wish they were dead.

Odd things my family does...

This shabbos I was telling my mother about the wedding that I went to on Thursday night. I happened to mention that they served cornish hens as the main course and he cam eup with a "brilliant" idea for MY wedding (I'm not dating yet, by the way, she just does this occasionally). Her idea was that we should have live cornish hens on everyone's plates and then the people can shecht them themselves. and for centerpieces, we have live peacocks. Never mind that she was joking, how does my family come up with these ideas? Good grief.
Some other examples of oddness in my family:
"Huff, Chuff Quill" - my brother, imitating our hedgehog at random moments.
"I'm a little bird." - also my brother, and if you look back to the first thing I posted, he sent that information to the govt. and to CAIR.
"Grrrgh?" - my father at odd moments
"It's as light as a chicken!" - my mother in a surprised tome of voice after picking up a polish chicken at the petting zoo. We've never let her forget that.
Of course I do some odd stuff too but...I think I'll just keep those to myself for now.

School, Weddings, and Stuff

I'm almost finished with the second week of school, and so far so good. I really like my psych classes. (I'm taking 2; Abnormal Psychology, and Human Development) Statistics is OK....it's annoying, but I think (hope) I'll live. I'm taking Oceanography and Oceanography Lab, because I need a lab and refuse to take Biology. It's....in some things it IS interesting, in other things it's not. Whatever, either way, I will get through it and deal.

Tomorrow night I have a wedding to go to, one of my BYM classmates, and I have another wedding to go to in February, also a BYM classmate. Lots of fun, and as an added bonus, both times I'm missing statistics. Yay!
Spaz

Next Friday, I might be going up to Orlando and going to Disney, which I really hope I end up doing, but we'll see if ends up happening. Let's see, what else has been happening....oh! On Sunday I went up with my father, his wife, my step sister and my brother to Del Ray for a birthday party for my Grandma, it was her 79th B-day, and we went to a restraunt, my brother and i ate before hand, and went to my aunt's house after and took some pictures at my grandmother's inssitence. Everyone else was a bit reluctant...but it was her birthday, so we did it to make her happy.

We got Little Bird a new cage on Monday night and gave Baby Bird Little Bird's old cage. The problem was that Baby's old cage was pretty small and not very steady, it was knocked over twice by the cats, and Baby escaped both times, it was fortunate I was in the room both times, otherwise he would have been lunch! So we finally got that taken care and now don't have to worry about that again.
Cat And Mouse Tail Parrot
That's about it...for now until the next time I can update.

A New School Term

Started the new term today and I've already dropped a class. Why? Because the teacher was, to be quite frank, downright SCARY. And I didn't even MEET her. How did I know she was scary? The way her syllabus was written really gave over the idea that she was looking to fail people rather than pass them. So, i dropped the class, then tomorrow I shall go in and see if I can take the same class, but with a different teacher. But, on the upside, I think I am really going to like at least one of my classes this semester. It's always good to have at least one class you like, otherwise the entire four months are like living hell. This semester I have 5 classes, and I have only had 2 of them so far, so we shall see whether I like 2 of the others tomorrow. Now, I think I shall go to bed, read, and just try to unwind. That syllabus was very stressful!!
